ZUBE TUBE: 1990 HIT TOY RE-LAUNCHED

In 1990, Good Morning America, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and hundreds of other TV shows, magazines, and newspapers called the Zube TubeTM the "Toy of the 90’s" and likened it to the Hula-Hoop of the late 50’s. The Zube Tube was even chosen by Parents Magazine as one of the Best Toys in 1990 (November, 1990). As with the Hula-Hoop, the Zube Tube is very simple in concept, yet everyone who sees one wants to try it. It has an appeal that seems to reach all ages.

Shaking it, twisting it, plucking it, pumping it, or talking, calling, or singing into it makes a variety of the most unusual sounds imaginable, without any electronics or batteries. It can be an alien-zapping bazooka, a wild wolf call, a young singer’s echo chamber, an out-of-this-world sound effects device or a space-age musical instrument. In fact, a percussionist recently used some Zube Tubes in a performance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (Columbus, Ohio, October 1999). There are special sounds that require skill and practice to produce, yet younger children are fascinated by what they can create with the simplest movements.

Since the Zube Tube hadn't been manufactured for quite some time, Bob Deissler, a physicist from Cleveland, Ohio, and inventor of the Zube Tube, decided to re-launch the Zube Tube with his own company, The Ultimate Cosmic Toy Company, Inc. This is good news for fans of the Zube Tube as well as for those who have yet to experience the Zube Tube, particularly all the new children out there.

Publicity for the Zube Tube has not been limited to the early 90's. Recently Bob Deissler demonstrated his invention during the taping of two Big Chuck and Lil' John Shows which aired March 2, 2001 at 11:30 PM and March 3 at 1:00 PM on WJW Fox 8 Cleveland. He also appeared at The National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio from 1-3 pm, on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4, to demonstrate and autograph the Zube Tube. In addition, the Zube Tube has been chosen by Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, author of Toys for a Lifetime: Enhancing Childhood Through Play, as one of the Best Classic Toys 2001 and by Creative Child Magazine as a recipient of its 2003 Seal of Excellence Award.
